We heard your feedback, and we’re pleased to announce that Reel Talk returns as a hybrid series this fall. Screenings will take place in-person at TIFF Bell Lightbox as well as online on digital TIFF Bell Lightbox. As in previous years, the series provides a global snapshot of the best cinema from around the world, with a focus on art-house films that may not see wide release.
Part of the fun is the surprise: titles are not announced ahead of time, and all screenings are previews of films not yet released in theatres or on digital platforms in Toronto. Each event offers a thought-provoking, post-film discussion with a member of the film team — such as a director, screenwriter, producer, or actor — a critic, or a subject expert.
This season’s hosts are Ravi Srinivasan, International Programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival, and Christoph Straub, Senior Manager, Audience and Community.
Last season’s lineup included award-winning films that premiered at Sundance, Cannes, and other international film festivals: Luzzu (Malta), Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom (Bhutan), Fire (Kazakhstan), Great Freedom (Austria), Barakat (South Africa), and Aurora (Costa Rica).
