After you’ve watched the film, join us for a live Q&A with a special guest on Sunday, April 18 at 2pm EDT: https://zoom.us/j/93064142571?pwd=c29rOGVWYU1GWm0vWW1PNitKeWxsdz09
Be the first to see some of the year’s most exciting new films from the safety and comfort of your own home! Secret Movie Club goes digital this season and continues to showcase the best of independent cinema, from highly anticipated festival favourites, to small-budget indies, to the year’s most buzzworthy art-house films.
Part of the fun is the surprise: titles are not announced ahead of time, and all screenings are previews of films not yet released in theatres or digital platforms in Ontario. Each event offers a thought-provoking, live post-film discussion with a member of the film team — such as a director, screenwriter, producer, or actor — a critic, or a subject expert.
This season’s hosts are Robyn Citizen, Senior Manager of Festival Programming at TIFF, and Norm Wilner, senior film writer for NOW Magazine. Last season’s lineup included Dark Waters (dir. Todd Haynes), 1917 (dir. Sam Mendes), The Specials (dirs. Éric Toledano, Olivier Nakache), and Never Rarely Sometimes Always (dir. Eliza Hittman).
The 2020–21 season of Secret Movie Club takes place on the following weekends. Subscribers and ticket buyers will be able to access each film as of 12pm ET on the respective Friday and must start watching it before Sunday at 12pm. Once started, subscribers and ticket buyers have 24 hours to complete watching the film, unless otherwise noted. Q&As with special guests will take place live on Sundays at 2pm ET. These Q&As will also be recorded.
