In Nikole Beckwith’s charming comedy, an unexpected friendship develops between a single man (Ed Helms) and the surrogate he hires to carry his child.

“Sweet, sensitive and surprisingly insightful.” –Jeannette Catsoulis, The New York Times

When Matt (Ed Helms), a single 45-year-old app developer living in San Francisco, decides he wants a child of his own, he hires 26-year-old barista Anna (Patti Harrison) to be his gestational surrogate. A loner by nature, Anna finds Matt’s sweet-natured excitement at the prospect of fatherhood endearing, if a little over the top at times.

While Anna is keenly aware that surrogates and parents agree to maintain distance for a reason, she and Matt nonetheless strike up a close friendship. With the due date fast approaching, they are faced with a difficult decision: go through with the birth as acquaintances, or acknowledge their unexpected connection and rethink their ideas of what it means to love someone — even at the risk of potential heartbreak. Written and directed by Nikole Beckwith (Stockholm, Pennsylvania), Together Together also stars Tig Notaro, Rosalind Chao, Sufe Bradshaw (Veep), and Fred Melamed (Shiva Baby).
